The "smaragd village" has a lot to exhibit in summer for its guests. Because of the summer operation of the most cable cars (Smaragdbahn, Wildkogelbahn (Panorama, 6MB), Panoramabahn, Weißsee Gletscherbahn, ...) there are a lot of high alpine regions easy to access for hiking or mountain bikeing.
Without doubt, one of the most populare activities in summer is hiking in the Hohe Tauern national park and Kitzbühler Alps. There are a lot of Two to Three-thousanders, an hiking paths with great views and interessting themes. Nearly everywhere there is a alp at your way to get a snack and a refreshing drink. No matter, if you like the easier Wildkogel (2224m), the rocky Gr.Rettenstein (2366m) or the glacier covered Großvenediger (3667m), everyone finds a appropriate challenge.
For enthusiastic cyclist there are a lot of trails (mountain biking and trekking). You can choose between uncountable routes and options: the flatter Salzachtal bicycle route 50km along the Salzach river with an electric supported bike or hundreds of km mountain bike routes with in the small valleys, canyons and mountain tops - there is a great route for every taste.
On a rainy day you should use the change to visit one of the interesting exhibitions and museums: the Nationalpark-Zentrum in Mittersill or the Heimatmuseum Bramberg are just two examples. Especially mineral-lovers will be delighted: some of the exhibits, that were found in the Habachtal valley, counts to the most beautiful in the world!
Of course there is a ability to rent a bike, ... in the near.
Further you find tennis courts, swimming lakes (5km), out- (3km) and indoor swimming pools (10km), a golf course (10km), squash-boxes (10km), and lots more. In autumn of 2010 the new Tauern-Spa (20km) with rich wellness- and fitness-offers will be opened.
For day-trips there are lots of aims worth to visit: Krimmler Wasserfälle and Großglockner Hochalpenstraße are the more populare ones.
